Cattleya species: One of the favorite for orchid collectors
Why do many orchid collectors feel passionate about cattleya species?
Cattleya species are very special plants. They are original from Central and South America, and come in a wide variety of sizes and varieties. Having a native plant, caring for it and enjoying it, is a beautiful way to conserve nature's species. Both the original plants from the jungle or those reproduced to preserve and improve the species hook us in a very special way. On the one hand, obtaining a division of an original plant is an achievement for any collector, on the other obtaining a seedling from a special or interesting cross of our species and waiting for the flower that will result is very exciting. Seen it grow, take out new roots, produce new shoots, we already enjoy it. And we always ask ourselves:
Will it be what I expect?
What will result from the crossing?
Will it bloom soon?
Furthermore, it is currently much easier to obtain cattleya species. The offer and variety has increased in the market.
We just have to enjoy them!
