A rare jewel from the nature - Cattleya percivaliana 'Ondine' AM/SVCN

Cattleya percivaliana 'Ondine' or 'Undine' as also is known is a very rare plant from the wild. The coerulea and coerulescens coloring of the orchid flowers are not common.

This attractive variety has greyish, some times almost white petals and sepals. The center of the lip is very curious, since it presents a reddish purple color mask surrounding and elongated spot, in all its center, of an intense blue color. The throat is of a dark orange color which is extended to the front of the lip.

It was presented for first time in 1962, by Dr. Tarciso Gimenez, at the Venezuela society of Natural Sciences, in a special show of Cattleyas percivalianas, where it was granted an Award of Merit of 81 points according to an article on Cattleya percivaliana published in Monography of the Venezuelan Cattleyas and its varieties by Carlo Aulisi A. and Ernesto foldats, 1990.

This plant has originated all the Cattleya percivaliana plants that we actually known.

We have obtained beautiful plants from selfing it and cross selfings and siblings.
